Lockdown Recordings are a Bristol based label who’ve been grafting to build a roster which stands up against those imprints who were established in the earlier days. Promoting the deeper side of the dance music spectrum, they’ve always adhered to the same paradigm; that’s to offer only forward-thinking, technical and rolling vibes for the heads.
Lockdown’s next release comes from label boss Cybin. Following recent releases with Intrigue Music and Trust Audio last year, Cybin now returns to the Lockdown with a new 4 track EP also featuring a remix from
London based duo Kolectiv.

The EP opens with the stripped back trademark jungle vibes of ‘Tribal Dub’. Classic rolling breaks and reggae vocal samples build before switching into fizzing bass stabs and reece edits. A rolling dancefloor tune that sits well in the mix.
Title track ‘Overlap’ has deeper minimal vibe, atmospheric textures and precise, stepping drums underpin a low growling sub bassline. The overlapping mid bass stabs and reverberated effects setting the tone for the EP as a whole.
Fresh of the back of their new EP on CIA, Kolectiv step in for remix duties for the next track and roll out a futuristic re-lick of the classic roller ‘Come Now’, combining stylish technical edits, punchy rolling drums with the mentasm stabs and deep musical vibes of the original cut.

Floating point closes out the EP, a lethal dark dance floor cut that takes inspiration from the golden era of early D&B, deep sub bass stabs and tear out switching mid bass are brought together on a classic Cybin tech stepper that really smashes through on a sound system.
With releases scheduled on Emcee, Trust Audio and Intrigue Music for later this year, 2020 is already looking like a big year for Cybin and Lockdown Recordings.

Don’t sleep on this one… Keep it Locked!
